Each of our caskets and urns is produced to the highest quality, ensuring that your loved one is laid to rest caringly and with dignity. We have an excellent selection of traditional and eco-friendly caskets, as well as bio-degradable urns.
All of these options are customisable, providing a unique and bespoke funeral service experience.
Traditional Wooden Coffins
We are pleased to offer a wide selection of professionally constructed, high-quality traditional wooden coffins and caskets for burials and cremations. Our oak veneered coffins present the aesthetic of a sturdy, solid wooden coffin. They are produced to order and are made from the best quality timber from FSC approved sources.
Our eco-friendly supplier ensures that whenever felling needs to occur to fulfil our clients' requests, sufficient replanting is undertaken to help preserve the environment and safeguard future sources of high-quality timber.

Caskets from our Woodland Trust Collection can be made with natural and unpolished woods, premium weaved willow, or FSC boards from environmentally conscious sources. All of these coffins are suitable for woodland burials. They have a lower carbon footprint than standard, traditional wooden coffins, as they are produced from recycled materials, making them ideal alternatives to cardboard caskets.
Eco Coffins
Our eco-friendly range of coffins are produced by hand from FSC approved materials. Several of our eco coffins are manufactured explicitly for green and woodland burials, each of which is fully customisable in a range of finishes, colours and sizes. Examples of our eco-friendly coffins include:
- Bamboo: unstripped bamboo woven for an organic aesthetic.
- Cardboard: produced with 70% recycled paper and wood pulp. The handles are produced from a natural rope with only organic, starch-based glues.
- Willow: commonly available in golden brown and white, willow is becoming an increasingly popular choice. We can fix the plyboard to the base of the coffin when required for cremations.
- Seagrass: produced in a variety of earthy and natural tones.

How to Choose a Coffin or Casket?
When selecting a coffin for a loved one's funeral arrangements, there are many important factors to keep in mind when making your decision.
It would also be best if you kept in mind that specific requirements may need to be met regarding your coffin selection. If you have chosen to cremate your loved one, there will be certain guidelines the crematorium will have.
- The cost
- The materials used
- Is it environmentally friendly
- The style of the coffin
- The personality and taste of your loved one
Here at Shropshire Funerals, our professional team will be able to help you when selecting a casket suitable for cremations. Our eco-friendly caskets are also suitable for green burials, ensuring that the materials used to produce the coffin are fully degradable.
How much is an average coffin in UK?
Solid wood coffins are generally the most expensive type of casket you can buy, costing on average around £950. However, this will depend on the level of detail and design present on the casket.
A plain wood coffin can average around £650, while an American-style padded coffin can reach as far as £1,200.
Here in the UK, the most popular choice of coffin type is wood veneer. These coffins look and feel exactly like solid wood caskets but are far cheaper, coming in at around £400. Solid wood coffins are not always the best choice.
When considering a green burial or cremation, it is best to choose coffins produced with natural materials, such as our range of eco-friendly woven coffins. These caskets will have little effect on the environment and are therefore the best option when considering woodland burials and cremations.
